Suppliers of Quality Rod Couplings Tri-alta Oilfield Industries offers both Class “T” and “SM” Sucker Rod and Polish Rod Couplings. We also stock all common change over sizes and all couplings are available in Full Size and Slim Hole configurations. All threads are cold formed, not machined, to provide maximum thread strength. All of our couplings are produced to meet and exceed all current API Specifications. 

Grade “T” Couplings are manufactured from seamless mechanical steel tubing and offer excellent strength and resistance to hydrogen embrittlement. Minimum tensile strength for all couplings is 95,000PSI but the cold drawn process used will significantly exceed the minimum.

 A phosphate coating is applied to all couplings for anti-galling protection. Grade “SM” (Spray Metal) couplings start with the same high quality “T” couplings and have a very hard nickel alloy coating applied to the outside diameter and face of the couplings. The coated surface is then centerless ground to a very fine finish at the proper API diameter. The spray metal thickness is a minimum of 0.010” and the hardness is minimum of 55Rc. “SM” couplings are intended for use where abrasion and/or corrosion wear is problem.

 Polish Rod Couplings are available either as a Class “T” or “SM”. DO NOT USE A SUCKER ROD COUPLING ON POLISH RODS. In order to ensure proper make-up a Polish Rod coupling should always be used on a Polish Rod because a Polish Rod incorporates a 9o taper on the pin. It is acceptable to use Polish Rod couplings on Sucker Rod pins. 

All change over couplings use a Polish Rod type box thread.
