Pump barrel selection is influenced by abrasion, corrosion, fluid composition, and operating conditions. Material and surface treatment determine wear resistance, sealing performance, and overall service life.

Hardened and Precision Honed

Recommended for medium abrasion and mild corrosion environments.

The internal diameter is carburized to a hardness of 58–63 Rc and precision honed to size, supporting consistent sealing and wear resistance under moderate service conditions.

Steel – Chrome Plated

Recommended for severe abrasion and mild corrosion.

Chrome plating provides increased surface hardness, with a typical hardness of approximately 70 Rc, supporting improved wear resistance in abrasive environments.

501 Stainless – Chrome Plated

Recommended for severe abrasion and severe saltwater corrosion, including applications with mild hydrogen sulfide.

Material selection supports corrosion resistance while maintaining surface durability under abrasive conditions.

Brass – Chrome Plated

Recommended for severe abrasion in saltwater brine and mild hydrogen sulfide environments.

Chrome plating provides surface hardness of approximately 70 Rc, supporting wear resistance while maintaining compatibility with corrosive fluids.

Brass – Precision Honed

Recommended for corrosive environments where abrasion is minimal.

This configuration provides corrosion resistance with a lower hardness of approximately 34 Rc, suitable for applications where wear is not the primary concern.

Steel – Nicarb

Recommended for abrasive conditions with moderate saltwater and hydrogen sulfide exposure.

Nicarb treatment enhances surface durability under abrasive conditions, though corrosion resistance is lower than brass-based carbide alternatives.

Brass – Nicarb

Recommended for severe abrasion and highly corrosive environments.

The silicon carbide matrix provides a dense, non-porous structure that resists lifting and flaking, offering superior durability compared to chrome plating in aggressive service conditions. This configuration supports extended service life in the most demanding applications.
