Sliding Valve Assembly

Sliding valve assembly — Engineered for Oilfield Production

The Tri‑Alta Sliding Valve Assembly is installed below the valve rod guide on top or bottom hold-down pumps. The assembly consists of a housing, available in stainless steel or mild steel, a stainless steel seat, and a drop manufactured from brass or mild steel.

The design supports controlled fluid movement and improved performance in applications where gas affects pump operation.

Operating Function

During the downstroke, the drop moves downward and contacts the seat, sealing the pump from the hydrostatic head of the tubing fluid above. This reduction in hydrostatic head within the pump allows the traveling valve to open more effectively, supporting improved handling of gas-affected fluids.

During the upstroke, produced fluid lifts the drop off the seat, allowing fluid to exit through the ports in the housing.

Application

The sliding valve assembly is used in applications where gas interference impacts pump performance. It supports improved production in wells with gassy fluids and is also suitable for fluid systems where entrained gas is present.
